Langtang Trekking

Personal guided trekking tours by Babu Tamang

Langtang and Gosainkunda Trek

This trek follows up the Langtang Valley all the way to Kyanjin Gompa (3800m), the highest village in the valley. By not walking longer than 6 hours a day and not making more than 500-800m of height, trekkers can get used to the altitude very easily and without having the risk of getting altitude sickness. In lower areas, the trek goes through jungle, woodlands, and grassland, always having a spectacular view on the mountains and the stream next to the trek. After the 3rd day of the tour, the vegetation grows smaller and the views get even greater, entering the vast and open parts of Langtang Valley. During daily hikes, there will always be the chance and time to stop at lodges on the way and have a rest, enjoying a hot cup of tea, some snacks and the mountain views. In Kyanjin Gompa, we will have the opportunity to reach Tserko Ri (5033m) or Kyanjin Ri (4773m) on day trips.
Then, after some days in the higher parts of Langtang, we take the way back down, passing by Woodland Lodge and then enter the 2nd part of the trek to Gosainkunda. After having the chance to enjoy hot springs on the way, a steep hike leads us to my hometown Thulo Syabru, were we can see traditional mountain farming paired with a wonderful view towards the Tibetan Mountains. Two days later, we will reach Gosainkunda with its famous holy lakes right next to the Lodges we stay in. Here, at 4200 meter above sea level we are on the highest part of the trek. For whom this is not enough we have the possibility for a day trip to Surya Peak (5150m) and then back down to Sing Gompa. On the last day of the trek, we will make our way down to Dhunche. From there we will be taking the jeep back to Kathmandu, out of the mountains and back to the busy capitol.

Testimonials

“We had a great time on the trek with Babu. He is a very kind and lovely guide! His lodge is a beautiful place to stay with a very comfortable lounge. I can recommend the food there and the very welcoming atmosphere! Babu has a good feeling to measure our expectations in combination with our skills! We felt very safe all the time with him and we are looking forward to see him again. Great guy <3 ”
“Langtang is a beautiful valley, relatively easy trekking, lots of tea houses, fantastic flora and fauna.
The area was severely hit by the Earthquake in 2015 but the paths are fixed, rebuilding is going ahead rapidly and it's beautiful to see the locals pour life into this once destroyed area which will enrichen your life with the experience. Babu knows pretty much everything about his surroundings and will happily share his knowledge with you by introducing you to culture, rituals and the life away from any trouble and stress.”
“We had a really pleasant journey in Nepal which is not only because of our wonderful guide Babu Tamang. The whole trip had already been planned when we arrived in Kathmandu which made it a lot easier for us to really get to know the country and its wonderful people. All the hikes we made were perfectly structured so that no one was left behind and everyone had enough time to enjoy the beautiful landscape and all the other lovely details in the beautiful nature of Nepal. With Babu as our guide we had the opportunity to get to know how people live there. Cooking on open fire, picking stinging nettles for the soup or staying in the kitchen with the indigenous to preparing snicker momos (those you should really have when you’re over there) just to name a few experiences that we made.
For me it was a really special vacation and I think that Babu took a big part of that.
He turned out to be a very warm and open-hearted person throughout the trip.”
“Babu was our guide for the Langtang-Trek. We started towards the end of April, which is a great time as the season hasn’t started yet and therefore it wasn’t as busy on the treks. The trek itself was beautiful and incredibly diverse regarding nature and landscapes. Langtang-Trek is suitable for beginners just as it is for advanced hikers who look to challenge themselves.
Babu knows the area like his left pocket and has amazing knowledge of the country, the culture, the area and hiking itself. I would without a doubt recommend everyone hike the Langtang-Trek with Babu. It is an exciting one-in-lifetime experience you won´t forget. Challenging and incredibly relaxing at the same time. Very unique. Go for it!”
