“Let me be your guide through the mountains of Langtang National Park”

Born in the Langtang National Park, Babu Tamang is a well-known and respected guide who is a trekking expert from the area. He speaks five regional languages fluent and very good English.

After growing up in the mountains, he went to school in Syapru Besi and returned afterwards to his hometown Thulo Syabru 5 hours away from his school to live his life in the mountains, hosting guests at his lodge or guiding them on the several treks of the region.

Since multiple years, Babu leaves his Woodland Lodge during the rainy season in the summer to work at the “Passauer Hütte” which is located high up in the mountains close to Salzburg, Austria. During this absence, his wife stays in Nepal to take care of their little daughter and manages the lodge.

In 2019, Babu started to build a second lodge in the heights of Langtang village, where hopefully he will host guests starting in the fall season 2019.

Sustainability for the region is very important for Babu. Due to that, he always tries to keep wealth in the region, buying from local producers, keeping the area clean as well as creating a beautiful image of this magnificent region and providing it to the world.
